A Clare Association existed in Dublin in the 1930s but we have little information on the activities of the Association at the time other than its intermittent existence for about two decades. The present Association was re-constituted in 1959 and has functioned continuously ever since. As outlined in its membership rule book, Muintir an Chláir - Clare Association Dublin is a non-political and non-sectarian representative body of Clare men and women resident in Dublin and its outlying areas.
